Westminster City Council have resolved to grant planning permission to Development Securities and Morley Fund Management for a hotel at PaddingtonCentral. The Accor hotel group will develop the new hotel as part of phase two at the development in London's West End.
The hotel will provide 206 four star rooms and it will be launched as an addition to Accor's upgraded Novotel brand. Beneath the 11 storey bedroom tower, a podium block will house a restaurant and bar, meeting rooms capable of holding up to 150 people, and leisure facilities for guests. The building has been designed by Moren Gregory in conjunction with Kohn Pedersen Fox and a special block will be constructed to meet the hotel's needs.
I am delighted that Westminster City Council has resolved to grant planning permission for the hotel at PaddingtonCentral,Ó commented Wally Kumar, development director, Development Securities. Phase two's office building, One Kingdom Street has now started on site and the hotel will be a clear additional attraction to companies looking to take office space at the development. The recent opening of Bishops Bridge which now allows direct access into PaddingtonCentral has made a tremendous difference and the increased footfall is proving successful with the existing retail and restaurants.
The PaddingtonCentral Novotel will be located just a short walk from Paddington Station with access to the Heathrow Express and Great Western main line. It is expected to appeal to a wide range of international business travellers, as well as visitors to companies occupying offices at PaddingtonCentral. Construction is expected to start in the autumn 2006 and fit out of the hotel is expected to take 18 months.
The resolution to grant planning permission is subject to the finalisation of the Section 106 which is expected to be completed.
