Green Excellence
In design and construction, the focus on sustainability has earned One Kingdom Street the highest possible BREEAM rating; ‘Excellent’.

'Excellent', was Awarded on a wide range of sustainability and energy efficiency factors from enhanced landscaping to excellent provision for bicycles (One Kingdom Street has 200 spaces).

An important factor in the award of a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating has been the emphasis placed on bio-diversity enhancement, by the planting of nine native species.

The BREEAM form and fabric section of the award is given for features that enhance energy saving and the usability of the building. In this, One Kingdom Street is an ‘intelligent’ building design, scoring five out of a possible five. Ground-source heat pumps heat the atria and solar panels on the roof heats the water. All these factors reduce the energy need for heating from the low NOx emission boilers. To reduce building cooling needs, the building has specialist glazing, a bris soleil on the south façade to minimise heat gain, and systems to recover heat from ventilation air.

To ensure occupiers can operate the building as efficiently as the design envisages, One Kingdom Street incorporates thermal zoning with independent adjustment for different needs. Similarly, local lighting zones and water and electricity sub-metering let occupiers take control of their environment and reduce consumption.
