PaddingtonCentral is a remarkable architectural achievement, designed foremost for the people who live, work and enjoy it today, and those who will inhabit it in the future.

From the ground up the space incorporates a range of systems to reduce energy consumption and pollution. PaddingtonCentral is a virtually vehicle-free environment at street level; there are provisions for surface rainwater harvesting: passive light controls photovalvic cells and ground source heat pumps ensure reduced energy consumption.

Great attention has been paid to the ecology of the site. An ecological survey was undertaken, and existing 
ecological features protected in and around Paddington 
Basin and its canals.

An important factor in the award of a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating to One Kingdom Street has been the emphasis placed on bio-diversity enhancement, by the planting of nine native species.
